Vintage bridal inspiration... Victoria Mary Vintage bridal accessories - Part 1
Like so many of my newer friends, I'm never entirely sure how we 'met'... a tweet here, a Facebook 'like' there... but met we have (even if not physically) and I love the internet for that alone. Some incredibly important friendships have grown from the WWW and I feel so thankful. So somehow, I got chatting to Vicky... vintage bridal accessories designer extraordinaire and the talent behind Victoria Mary Vintage. I instantly fell in love with her work and became a fan and we chatted more and more. Vicky is absolutely lovely so and as soon as she mentioned her new collection.... I immediately said "I'll shoot it!". Vicky accepted and the planning began!
We decided to do the shoot up north as I knew a great Cheshire wedding venue, set stylist, florist, make-up artist and the perfect model so it was easier to get Vicky on a train up to Chester than get them all down to London. Very tricky to do that with a venue, ha. Vicky organised some beautiful Vintage Rose Bridal dresses from a local boutique (Lace Bridal Cheshire) and that made up our very own A Team...
Mandy & Chris from Saddleworth Shindigs did all the set styling - the table in the forest was truly magical. You can hire all of their vintage props for your wedding so if you want a woodland themed table like this for an Autumn wedding - they will go foraging just for you!
Mat from Red Floral Architecture came through BIG TIME at the last minute and ended up sending not one but five stunning bridal bouquets - a mix of real and crystal. All amazing!
I met the wonderful Victoria Thomas MUA at a Heaton House Farm wedding where she did the bridal make-up beautifully and we've since worked together a few times on shoots. She is SO much fun and super talented. If need a make-up artist for your wedding, get in touch with her. You won't regret it.
Our beautiful model Kit Williams was an absolute joy to work with... and never moaned once - this was November so if you see goosebumps, that's why!
Abbeywood Estate was somewhere I wanted to visit as I have a wedding there this year. As soon as I saw the woods and stunning grounds I knew it was perfect for this shoot too.
It was such good fun, crazy hectic and I don't think I sat down for more than 2 mins all day but I loved it! Thank you to all the gang. xxxx Finally I will leave it to Vicky to tell us more about the first collection. Part II coming soon!
"The Vintage Flora Collection is a delicate, sparkly collection of heavily beaded headdresses and jewellery. The sprays of crystals, pearls and seed beads, often set with sparkly vintage rhinestone necklaces and brooches, have an ethereal quality to them that makes them the perfect accessory to the beaded, flowy vintage-style gowns like Claire Pettibone and Jenny Packham that are so popular today.
The product range, available on my site Victoria Mary Vintage and through bespoke orders (as each is made to order and can be modified from the original design)
We wanted the first shoot, which was showcasing the Vintage Flora Headdresses, to really bring out the ethereal side of this collection. We decided to style this shoot as a vintage, ephemeral forest shoot, with a magical woodland tablescape of moss, terariums, candles and draping ivy, along with three stunning autumn woodland bouquets. We styled Kit with slightly wild, crimped and curled hair and shimmery, silvery makeup. We had quite a challenge on location, trying our hardest to keep the beautiful dresses spotlessly clean in the midsts of the forest!"
